CNN anchor Anderson Cooper brands Donald Trump 'an obese turtle on its back' over election rigging claims

CNN ANCHOR Anderson Cooper has gone viral after comparing President Donald Trump to an “obese turtle on his back, flailing in the hot sun”.

Cooper make the remarks in the wake of Trump’s press conference in which he accused “big tech, big money, the media, pollsters and Democrats” of rigging the election against him.

The US President claimed he won the election based on “legal” votes and accused the opposition of trying to “steal” the election despite failing to provide any evidence to back up his claims.

Reacting to the extraordinary 17-minute address, Cooper said: "I don't think we've ever seen anything like this from a President of the United States and I think, as Jake [Tapper] said It's sad and it is truly pathetic.

"And of course it is dangerous, and of course it will go to the courts, but you'll notice that the president did not have any evidence presented at all, nothing. No actual, real evidence of any kind of fraud. He talked about people putting papers up in windows he talked about things he'd seen on the internet."

He continued: "That is the President of the United States, that is the most powerful person in the world, and we see him like an obese turtle on his back, flailing in the hot sun, realizing his time is over, but he just hasn't accepted it and he wants to take everybody down with him, including this country."

The clip has already become one of the most viewed videos of the US election with Newsweek estimating the clip has been watched more than 10 million times in the space of just a few short hours.

The name “Anderson Cooper” has also been trending on Twitter in Ireland, with many revelling in the reporter’s vivid description of the situation.

“Thank Anderson Cooper for this new image,” one fan wrote.

“I didn't know Anderson Cooper is a preacher,” another joked.

A third joked: “Grandma, where were you when Anderson Cooper said obese turtle?”

The US election remains on a knife edge with both candidates awaiting results from several key states later today.
