Clarkson set for BBC return for first 'Top Gear' interview

JEREMY Clarkson is set for his first interview since his departure as Top Gear presenter for his attack on a colleague.

The 55-year-old will return to the BBC on Thursday morning to join Radio 2 host Chris Evans on his breakfast show.

Clarkson is expected to speak about his future following the incident involving Irish producer Oisin Tymon earlier this year.

“Jeremy Clarkson will be here live in the studio and he will be participating in an interview with myself between 8am and 8.30am,” Evans told listeners.

“It’s the first interview he’s given since parting company with the BBC as far as Top Gear is concerned.

“He will be talking about what’s going on with him now, and Richard and James as well, and what perhaps could be going on in the future.”

The BBC chose not to renew Clarkson’s contract in February following an internal inquiry.

Since the fracas, there has been speculation over his future as a presenter, as well as former co-hosts James May and Richard Hammond, who have not signed new BBC contracts.
