THERE ARE growing calls online for Donald Trump’s memorable cameo from Home Alone 2: Lost In New York to be deleted from the film.
It comes as the fallout from the riots witnessed in the US Capitol continues apace with Trump facing a potential second impeachment for his role in inciting the violence.
The outgoing President is facing an uncertain future with many inside the Republican Party cutting ties with the controversial politician.
Trump could also face further criminal investigations once he leaves office.
For some, however, that does not go far enough.
Over on Twitter, many are now calling for the legacy of Trump to be erased in any number of ways – including his infamous appearance in Home Alone 2.
He features in a brief exchange with Macaulay Culkin’s character Kevin McCallister, who asks the business mogul for directions in the lobby of the Trump-owned Plaza Hotel in New York.
Trump even has a line of dialogue, instructing Kevin to go “down the hall and to the left” before doing a double take at the sight of a young boy alone in the Big Apple.
It’s a superfluous appearance that could be deleted entirely without impacting the movie and came about because Trump reportedly bullied his way onto the film.
In the wake of the scenes in Washington, it’s also one journalist Joseph Longo of Mel Magazine believes should be removed from the film.
Longo sparked the calls for Trump’s removal from Home Alone 2 with the tongue-in-cheek tweet “Digitally remove him from Home Alone 2 next.”

Trump’s critics have happily picked up the baton from there with the tweet amassing more than 555,000 likes and over 49,000 retweets at the time of writing.
“Not sure what would piss him off more; if he was cut out entirely, or if he was replaced with a younger-looking Obama,” one fan joked.
Another, meanwhile, showed off a photoshopped version of the Home Alone 2 DVD promising “Now with that Donald Trump scene removed”.

Though there are no official plans to remove the Trump cameo, incredibly it wouldn’t be the first time deleting the scene has been discussed.
The Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC) previously removed Trump’s brief cameo.
At the time, they claimed it was to make room for commercials, however that didn’t stop Donald Trump Jr from labelling the move “pathetic”.
There will be plenty who worked on Home Alone 2 who would be happy to see the scene taken out though, including director Chris Columbus who recently revealed how the US President bullied his way onto the movie.
Columbus added that the scene only stayed in the film after it tested well with audiences. Whether it would generate the same response today, remains to be seen.
