British police seek owners of stolen Claddagh jewellery found stashed in bush

POLICE in Britain are trying to trace the owners of Irish-style Claddagh jewellery they believe may have been stolen.

The jewellery and several other items were found in a bag stashed in a bush in the Herringthorpe area of Rotherham.

The bag contained a silver Claddagh brooch in a red display box and a silver Claddagh chain.

Other items included a silver pendant chain, a pair of silver cuff links, a silver heart-shaped pendant, two brass brooches, a silver Churchill coin, a silver Stockton-on-Tees railway centenary coin and a silver George VI coin dated 1951.

The bag was found hidden in a bush at the junction of Shenstone Road and Chatterton Drive and the find reported to police on May 18.

Officers from South Yorkshire Police believe the items may have been stolen and are now trying to identify the rightful owners.

A number of enquiries have been ongoing to identify the owners of the items and officers are urging anyone with any information to please report it.
