Britain calling for Diarmuid Gavin as Irish company folds

IRELAND’S top gardener is to focus on Britain now – as his Irish company ceased trading last year.

Diarmuid Gavin, who is gaining an increasing following in Britain, closed up shop on Diarmuid Gavin Designs Ireland in the year ending August 31, 2014 according to accounts filed by the RTÉ star.

This means he will now have more time to focus on his British operations – as his London based Diarmuid Gavin Designs recorded a profit.

The Irish company’s strike-off will see Mr Gavin and his business partner Annmarie Dermody each take a hit – with money they lent the company lost.

Ms Demody  was owed €68,832 by the company when it closed up in August.

Mr Gavin, however, was owed just €3,065.

Despite the bad news for the Irish operations, the London firm saw its accumulated losses fall by almost £20,000.

Mr Gavin is a familiar face both sides of the Irish Sea for his television appearances, best known for RTÉ’s I Want a Garden and appearing on British shows Strictly Come Dancing, The Chase and Sport Relief’s Top Dog.
