Breaking: Man (30s) shot dead in County Louth

A MAN has been shot dead in County Louth.

Reports are coming in this afternoon of a shooting in a caravan park in Termonfeckin, near Clogherhead, County Louth, which left one man dead.

The victim, who is believed to be a man in his thirties, was shot just before 3pm today, 27 August.

Emergency services were called but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The area has now been cordoned off by Gardaí to prepare for a technical examination, and an appeal for information has been launched to determine the details around the man's death.

It is believed that the shooting may be related to a gang feud. The Irish Times report that a passing car deliberately shot several times at a mobile home in the park, leading Gardaí to believe the man had been intentionally targeted.

There have been over 70 feud-related attacks in the Louth area in the past year, ranging from beatings, arson and attempted murder.

Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact Drogheda Garda Station on 041 987 4200. Alternately, the Garda Confidential Line can be contacted on 1800 666 111.

The Gardaí are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who was in the area at the time of the attack, or from anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity in the area today.
