A BRAZILIAN gang leader attempted a daring prison escape by dressing up as his daughter after she visited him behind bars.
According to the South American authorities Clauvino da Silva aka ‘Shorty’ donned a silicon mask, glasses and a long, dark-haired wig in an attempt to get past guards at Gericino prison.
He even slipped into a pair of tight jeans and a pink short with cartoon images of doughnuts on it in a bid to deceive staff at the Rio de Janeiro prison.
However, the plan, which included leaving his 19-year-old daughter in jail to take his place, was quickly rumbled.
The gang leader apparently gave himself away by appearing a little too nervous as he attempted to exit the prison.
Following the failed attempt, the city's state secretary of prison administration released photos of da Silva in his disguise.
They also posted a video online of da Silva removing the mask and clothes before stating his full name for the camera.
Reportedly part of the leadership of the notorious drug trafficking Rio-based criminal group the Red Command, Da Silva has now been transferred to a maximum-security prison.
Officials have confirmed he will face disciplinary sanctions over the escape attempt while his teenage daughter is also being investigated for her possible role as an accomplice.
