A BRAVE customer intervened and helped a member of staff fight off three armed men at a bookmakers in Ireland.
The trio of would-be robbers fled empty-handed from the shop in Glanmire, Co. Cork following the incident.
Gardaí are now hunting the three men, who were armed with hammers and what looked like a firearm.
CCTV captured the moment the gang struck at the shop at Crestfield at around 6.30pm on Saturday.
Two of the raiders, wielding hammers, jump over the counter and corner the member of staff.
Meanwhile the third man raises the suspected firearm at three customers.
While two of them duck for cover, the third customer, who appears to be in his 60s, stands his ground.
He then tackles one of the raiders attacking the member of staff, forcing him and the man wielding the suspected firearm to flee as the customer gives chase.
The member of staff then grapples with his attacker, who also flees, despite the brave customer’s attempts to stop him.
The customer’s actions drew praise on Reddit, although others said it was not worth the customer and staff member risking their lives.
Gardaí have appealed for anyone who saw the three suspects in the Riverstown/Glanmir/Sallybrook area between 6-7pm on Saturday to contact them.
They have also appealed for anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area involving a black saloon vehicle, either an Audi A4 or VW Passat, to get in touch.
Anyone with information or who has relevant mobile phone or dashcam footage is asked to contact Glanmire Garda Station on 021-4821002, Mayfield Garda Station on 021-4558510 or the Garda Confidential Helpline on 1800 666111.
