TRIBUTES HAVE been pouring in for actress Naya Rivera, whose body has been found following a six-day search.
Last Wednesday, the 33-year-old mother of one rented a boat on Lake Piru, California, with her four year old son Josey.
The alarm was raised after Ms Rivera and her son failed to return within the 3-hour rental limit and her car was discovered to still be in the car park, the local sheriff told reporters.
Her four-year-old son was found shortly afterwards, alone on the rented boat in the middle of Lake Piru. There was no sign of Ms Rivera.
A large-scale search was launched, with members of the Ventura County police force, divers and search and rescue teams trawling the lake for six days, and Ms Rivera's family and former Glee co-stars were seen holding vigils by the lakeside.
Yesterday evening, Ventura County Sheriff Ayub held a press conference where he confirmed that Ms Rivera's body had been found.
He told reporters that authorities are working on the assumption that the boat drifted away in the lake's strong current.
It is believed that Ms Rivera managed to save her son by placing him back on the boat but did not have enough energy to save herself.
Confirming the news on Twitter, the Ventura County police offered their condolences to Ms Rivera's loved ones, stating "Our hearts go out to her family, friends and fans during this difficult time."
An autopsy is due to take place in order to determine the cause of her death.
May she rest in peace.
