Bob Geldof awarded Freedom of London

ONCE upon a time Bob Geldof sang that he didn’t like Mondays.

But not this week.

Instead the Boomtown Rats singer and philanthropist began his week by receiving the Freedom of the City of London.

Geldof was awarded the coveted accolade during a special ceremony at London’s Guildhall in recognition of his services to music and his charitably work.

The singer, who already holds the Freedom of Dublin honour and is a three-time Nobel Peace Prize nominee, was instrumental in staging Live Aid in Wembley Stadium in 1985.

Other celebrity recipients of the Freedom of London include Dame Judi Dench, Sir Michael Caine and J. K. Rowling.
