IRISH ACTOR Andrew Scott stars in the first trailer for the long-awaited fifth season of Charlie Brooker’s dystopian sci-fi series Black Mirror.
The Sherlock and Fleabag actor is starring in one of the three new stories set to be released on Netflix on Wednesday, June 5th.
The trailer features a visibly distressed Scott driven mad by a future where smartphones have overtaken society.
At one point he appears, driving slowly in the countryside, surrounded by a police and carrying a gun.
Closely followed and filmed by onlookers, Scott's episode looks set to take a closer look at the role social media plays in reporting and covering crime.
Other notable highlights include Avengers star Anthony Mackie swiping through what appears to be a dating app or Instagram account, only to be rumbled by his partner, who appears unhappy at his actions. Could the episode be about to tackle the idea of infidelity and temptation in the digital age?
Singer Miley Cyrus also features in the new trailer, playing a popstar at the centre of an as-yet-undefined story centred around fandom and body image.
The three episodes will star Topher Grace (Blackkklansman), Damson Idris (Snowfall), Nicole Beharie (Shame), Pom Klementieff (Avengers: Infinity War), Angourie Rice (Spider-Man: Far From Home), Madison Davenport (Sharp Objects) and Ludi Lin (Aquaman) will also star.
It comes after the first official image from the new series was released online.
The image features Mackie alongside Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who played Black Manta in the Aquaman movie.

Something tells us this is going to be a lot darker and more depressing than any comic book movie.
