Beloved Dublin pub handing out free toasties to welcome back customers

ONE OF Dublin's most popular pubs is preparing to welcome back customers by handing out delicious toasted sandwiches free of charge.

While the pub will not officially reopen for business until 20 July, when Ireland enters the final phase of easing lockdown restrictions, Grogan's Castle Lounge is giving customers a 'taste' of what's in store.

From 1pm tomorrow, Thursday 22 June, the beloved bar and lounge will be handing out free toasted sandwiches to anyone who pops around to say hello.

The bar, which is based on South William Street in Dublin city, made the mouth watering announcement on Twitter yesterday, stating:

"We know how much everyone has been missing our famous toasted sambos over the last few months, so we have a little surprise for you!

"This Thursday from 1pm, we will be doing FREE TOASTIES from our door for a few hours!

"Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces"!

Hundreds of pubs across Ireland will be reopening this Monday, 29 June as Ireland enters Phase 3 of easing lockdown restrictions, as long as social distancing can be implemented and customers are served a 'substantial meal' costing €9 or more.

For the thousands of pubs like Grogan's, whose menus consist of toasted sandwiches or packets of Tayto, there's a bit more of a wait involved-- but their loyal customers are waiting patiently.

In the meantime, if you're in the Dublin city area and fancy a free toastie, you can head down to Grogan's on South William Street tomorrow at lunchtime.
