WHAT meal do you miss most from home?
Shepherd’s pie, a good old Irish stew or even colcannon?
All of these were strong contenders in a new survey by Bord Bia – but no match for the timeless classic - bacon and cabbage which was voted the tastiest Irish meal in a new study.
64 per cent of those surveyed said bacon and cabbage was the best meal, with 3 in 10 of the Irish abroad saying they missed it when away from home.
The survey of 1,000 people found half of all respondents planned to have a bacon and cabbage dinner on St Patrick’s Day.
The research was carried out to coincide with the launch of Bord Bia's Ham and Bacon campaign.
Celebrity chef Catherine Fulvio said: “Everyone loves a home-cooked meal, like mammy used to make. There is something so comforting about bacon and cabbage served with lots of fluffy potatoes.”
