Arrest warrant issued for Father Ted actor Gerard McSorley

AN ARREST warrant has been issued for Father Ted actor Gerard McSorley after he failed to appear in court today.

According to RTÉ, the Northern Irish actor, originally from Co Tyrone but with an address in Co Donegal, was due to appear in a Letterkenny court today after a recent arrest for breaching the peace.

The popular actor is also facing charges relating to the damage of property while being held in a cell in Letterkenny Garda Station following the arrest on 26 November this year.

Judge Paul Kelly was forced to issue a warrant for Mr McSorley's arrest today after the actor failed to attend the hearing, RTÉ reports.

The Father Ted actor, who played criminal Father Todd Unctious in the Christmas Special episode "A Christmassy Ted", has been in trouble with the law before-- we guess he's taking method acting to strange new places.

A couple of years ago, Mr McSorley, who also appeared in famous Irish films like Angela's Ashes and Veronica Guerin, was on the run from the law after 'breaking a couple of flower pots' outside a bank in Bunbeg.

It led to a warrant being issued for his arrest and the actor having to pay €40 when he was finally brought to justice (And this hilarious story of a chance encounter with a fan being shared years later), but it seems Mr McSorley hasn't quite learned his lesson.
