An Irish Martini recipe to enjoy on International Vodka Day

IT’S INTERNATIONAL Vodka day.

And what better way to celebrate the occasion than with this inspired Irish twist on the all-time cocktail classic.

Traditionally speaking, a Martini should be six parts gin and one-part vermouth, served with either lemon or an olive for that extra touch of class.

This particular twist does away with such conventions though, to include both Vodka and Irish whiskey as part of a cocktail combination that should probably be enjoyed in moderation.

The brainchild of the brilliant Spruce Eats, this effort only requires a dash of the classic Irish spirit but it makes one hell of a difference.

Here is everything you need to know.

What You Need

  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 1/2 ounce dry vermouth
  • 1/2 ounce Irish whiskey
  • Garnish: lemon twist

How To Make It

  1. Pour the Irish whiskey into a chilled cocktail glass.

  2. Swirl it around the glass in order to coat the inside, then dump the excess whiskey.

  3. Pour the vodka and dry vermouth into a cocktail shaker half-filled with cracked ice.

  4. Shake well.

  5. Strain into the rinsed glass and garnish with a lemon twist.

  6. Serve and enjoy!
