A 21-year-old man has appeared in court in Scotland charged with the murder of Cork student Karen Buckley.
Alexander Pacteau, from Glasgow, appeared before Glasgow Sheriff Court this afternoon and was charged with murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody following the private hearing to appear before court for a full committal hearing next week.
A statement from the Crown Office said: “The procurator fiscal at Glasgow has received a report regarding a 21-year-old male, in connection with the death of Karen Buckley.”
Ms Buckley, 24, had been missing since the early hours of last Sunday before her body was found by police at High Craigton farm on Wednesday.
The Mourneabbey, Co. Cork woman had moved to Glasgow in February to study occupational therapy, having previously worked as a nurse in Princess Alexandra Hospital in Essex.
She was on a night out with friends when she disappeared.
