ONE OF the daughters of NHS nurse Aimee O’Rourke has paid an emotional tribute to her brave mum following her sad death from coronavirus, aged just 39.
The mother-of-three, who worked at the Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital in Margate, Kent, contracted the virus two weeks ago.
Though it is thought that she was placed on a ventilator in intensive care at the hospital, tragically she could not be saved.
Ms O’Rourke was one of two NHS nurses, alongside Areem Nasreen who was also a mother-of-three, to fall victim to the deadly virus while working to save the lives of countless others this week.
In the wake of her tragic passing, the eldest of Ms O’Rourke’s three daughters Megan Murphy, took to Facebook to post a heartbreaking tribute to her selfless mother.
She wrote “It was us 4 against the world! Now us 3 will pull together more than ever!!!” Look at all the lives you looked after and all the family’s you comforted when patients passed away.
“You are an angel and you will wear your nhs crown forever more because you earned that crown the very first day you started!!!”
She added “one day when I have children of my own I will tell your grandchildren about there GG (glamorous gran) which you wanted to be called, every single day!
“I can’t believe one day I will have to go through labour without my mummy!!! I could go on all day long and have so many things to say but I have to be strong!! Night night mummy.”
In the wake of Ms O’Rourke’s sad death, an online fundraising page was set up to provide financial support to her three daughters.
Set up with an initial target of £1,000, the GoFundMe page has already raised an incredible £29,000.
Returning to Facebook, Ms Murphy thanked everyone for their kind donations.
“I’m at a total loss for words,” she wrote.
“From the bottom of my heart I thank every single person that’s donated and been unbelievably generous!
“The generosity has shocked me to the core.. me and my 2 sisters and family are so grateful and no one understands how much this means to us when until this afternoon we had no idea someone set the go fund me page up!!”
“Thank you you kind kind souls!!”
