Aer Lingus flight makes emergency landing after declaring technical fault with engine

AN AER Lingus flight has landed safely after declaring a technical fault with an engine.

Aer Lingus flight EI145 departed from Dublin Airport at around 3.40pm this afternoon, en route to Los Angeles.

However, the flight diverted to Shannon Airport after a technical fault, understood to be with one of the plane's engines.

The plane was carrying 267 passengers and 11 crew members, and landed in Shannon shortly after 4.30pm.

As a precaution, emergency fire services were on the runway as the plane landed.

Aer Lingus has said that passengers will be brought to Los Angeles on the next available flight.
