Biggest imports and exports between Britain and Ireland revealed

IRELAND is Britain’s fifth largest export market behind the US, Germany, Holland and France, while the Republic imports more from the UK than any other country in the world. 

The UK exported £18.37 billion in goods to Ireland in 2014, selling everything from fuel, machinery, drink and food to to the Irish market.

The Emerald Isle is the UK’s largest export market for food and drink, and second largest market in clothing, fashion and footwear, while trade in other sectors continues to grow, according figures from the British government.

Ireland imported more than £3 billion worth of food and drink goods from the UK in 2014, making it the UK’s largest export market for food and drink.
