5-year-old who drowned in river in Antrim identified

IN COUNTY ANTRIM yesterday, a five-year-old boy died of drowning.

The child fell into the Braid River and was not seen for a short period of time after.

The child, who died in hospital despite attempts to resuscitate him, has been identified as 5-year-old Kayden Fleck.

On Saturday, Kayden fell into the river and the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service was made aware of the incident at 13.04pm, using a number of vehicles to search for the young boy.

The authorities were called and the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service arrived to check the status of the child.

At approximately 15.04pm, the child was found and pulled out of the river.

The child was then flown to Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children, where he died of his injuries sustained.

Speaking to Belfast Live, Kayden's parents Darrel and Leanne described their late son as a 'happy-go-lucky' boy who 'just melted your heart'.
