The 2017 John Lewis Christmas ad is finally here – and Moz the Monster will leave you sobbing

IT wouldn’t be Christmas without an emotional John Lewis advert – and pardon the pun – but 2017’s serving is an absolute cracker.

The ad – released at 8am this morning – sees Moz the Monster follow Buster the Dog and Monty the Penguin as the nation’s latest tear-jerking favourite.

This year’s song is an Elbow cover of Golden Slumbers by The Beatles, despite speculation that John Lewis would feature George Michael’s Last Christmas in honour of the late singer.

You can watch the advert below:

Each Christmas, the high-end British department store releases poignant advertisements revolving around themes of family and friendship during the festive season.

This year’s £7million ad has received a mixed reception so far, but you’d better have your tissues at the ready if you’re the emotional type.

It's directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Michel Gondry, who brought us the cult classic Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and music videos for the likes of Björk, The White Stripes and The Chemical Brothers.
