16-year-old boy killed in road collision while walking home at night in Co Limerick

A COUNTY Limerick teenager was killed over the weekend after he was struck by a car while walking home from a party.

The 16-year-old, who has been named locally as Nathan Lawlor Hough from Rathkeale, was involved in a single-car collision at around 3.45am on Sunday, November 17th.

It is believed the teenager had attended a joint 18th birthday party and was walking home at the time the collision occurred. He was hit approximately 2km outside the village of Adare in the direction of Rathkeale.

An uncle of Nathan's, a member of the Rathkeale Fire Service, was reportedly among the first responders to the scene.

Emergency services attended the scene but were unable to save Nathan.

The driver, a man in his 40s, was uninjured in the collision and is assisting gardaí in their investigation.

Gardaí have now appealed for information and are asking any witnesses of the collision to come forward.

They are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who was driving near the scene of the accident at the time who may have dash cam footage of the fatal collision.
