Which girls will end up on top of the Worlds at Irish dancing’s biggest competition? Tallulah Speed looks at today’s potential winners in the girls’ categories, based on past competition performance.
17-18 Ladies
Ann Paige Turilli from Inishfree is the current World Champion and with three Worlds wins under her belt, she'll be tough to beat. However, in 2012 Melissa McCarthy from the Harney Academy proved it was possible, and Melissa’s track record of four consecutive podium placements makes her an obvious one to watch for the London Worlds.
Ireland’s Ellen Kennedy from O'Connor sprang into second place in 2013 from ninth in 2012 and seventh the year before, making her a definite contender, too. Additionally, after three consecutive years of placing at number four, Jade Bridgewater from the Kenny Academy might well blow us all away with her desire to reach the top box.
The Fifth Day of the championships gets underway today – for full details, reports and photographs see our Irish Dancing section on our website.
The World Irish Dancing Championships run until Sunday.
