AN American tourist has been reunited with an Irishman she met on a night out in Dublin – all thanks to the power of social media.
Eryka Alzaga fell for Meath man Colm on her last night in the Irish capital at the weekend, but never exchanged details with him.
Undeterred, the San Diego native took to the Ireland Travel Tips Facebook page on Monday to see if anyone happened to know Colm.
She wrote: "Okay, so this is a long shot and I’m a hopeless romantic but my last night in Dublin I met this guy name Colm I believe his last name is Harvey ???.
"My sister and I hung out with him and his friends all night but I never got contact information and I’m shooting myself in the foot for this.
"I’ve searched on Facebook with no luck. A part of me wants to leave it to the universe and the other part wants to give the universe a push. I’m planning on going back next summer and stopping by his town Ashbourne in Meath county".
Eryka added: "I’m not expecting happily ever after but hey if you find this man can you send him this way, please."
As luck would have it, lucky lad Colm wasn't too hard to find – and within just 10 hours Eryka had tracked down the enigmatic Irishman.
Writing this morning, Eryka said: "So for my co workers who have heard all my Ireland stories guess what - I have found him!!! Via Facebook.
"It’s 1am over there so he still doesn’t know but they have found his neighbor, sister and classmate."
Facebook users were evidently ecstatic at the news, with one writing: "UPDATES PLEASE. You owe us since we are emotionally invested".
Another said: "This is amazing, destiny for sure. Am happy you found him! Look at them smile."
Here's to you, internet!
