'Unstructured with muted colours' – Take a look at what well-heeled Irish men were wearing in 1979

WONDER what fashionable Irish men were wearing back in the seventies?

A new book, Brand New Retro by Brian McMahon, contains some priceless gems from Irish culture past, including a men's fashion shoot from Executive in 1979.

The fashion stories were shot around Dublin's Grafton street, outside the famous Davy Byrnes pub and in The Hole in the Wall pub in Dublin 7, showing what the well-heeled 'man about town' would be wearing in autumn 1979.

The theme was a 'casual unstructured look' with 'muted colours' dominating.

Clothes came from FX Kelly, Brown Thomas, Switzers. Micheal Barrie, 'Frends' and John Taylor with shoes from Da Vinci.

The white socks seen in some of the shots are the models' own.   Photos were taken by Paul Harvey.
