Time-lapse video captures the breathtaking Mourne Mountains as you've never seen them before

NORTHERN IRELAND'S Mourne Mountains are the subject of Percy French's famous folk song The Mountains of Mourne and you can see why.

The ring of 12 mountains rising above 2,000ft (600m) is home to Northern Ireland’s highest mountain peak Slieve Donard, which is also said  to have inspired C.S. Lewis’ magical world of Narnia.

Now, thanks to a clever 4.5 minute long time-lapse video, the changing beauty of the region can be seen right before our eyes.

Architecture student at Queen's University, Belfast and amateur photographer/videographer Ryan Simpson's short film Beyond The Wall is his first time-lapse project.

The title is taken from the 22-mile long Mourne Wall which traverses 15 different summits.

Recorded between July and December 2015, the mini-movie is made up of 29 individual clips, all of which capture some of Simpson's favourite views of the awe-inspiring landscape.
