The best and funniest of Irish social media on the internet

THERE'S nothing like a bit of Irish humour and thanks to social media,  you can get a daily dose on Facebook, Twitter or YouTube.

Check out our picks of the best of the Irish online ...

1. Oh my god, what a complete Aisling

omgwaca-n

Where you can find it: Facebook

Why you should follow it: OMGWACA, as it is known as by its 8,000 members, involves lots of Irish stereotyping - but we're the best at laughing at ourselves. From Aisling, our country girl, her Memmeh and Deddeh (that's Mammy and Daddy to you and I) and the notion-filled Niamh From Across The Road (NFATR), this page will have you laughing throughout the day.

2. The Naas Ball

Where you can find it: Twitter

Why you should follow it: You know the Naas Ball. Everyone does. It's that giant black ball on the side of the motorway heading towards Dublin that feels like it's been there forever but nobody is quite sure what it does. Well, the Naas Ball has its very own Twitter account and it's well worth checking out.

3. Irish Starbucks Names

Where you can find it: Instagram

Why you should follow it: Generations of Irish men and women have struggled to get anyone outside of Ireland to understand names like Blathnaid, Siobhan and even Ciaran. This page is dedicated to the well-meaning but name-butchering Starbucks baristas who manage to make these names into truly mind-blowing letter combinations.

4. Sminky Shorts

Where you can find it: YouTube

Why you should follow it: These quick little animations will only take a couple of minutes out of your life, but they repay you with hours of laughter. The wonderfully Irish wit will make you share these videos over and over with your friends and - to be honest - you will watch them yourself a hundred times over. Maybe use headphones if you're watching at your desk though.
