AN IRISH pet therapy service held a special canine service for dogs at Dublin's Christ Church Cathedral.
Celebrating 20 years of service, Peata Pet Therapy Ireland held its Thanksgiving Pet Blessing Service to bless the animals yesterday.
Peata, the Irish for 'pet', provides a pet therapy service to caring institutions and aims to prevent an awareness of the benefits people derive from pets.
The organisation mainly carries out a visiting scheme where volunteers and their dogs pay visits to nursing homes, long-term hospitals, institutions for mentally and physically impaired, and day care centres.
The service was held on the feast day of St Francis, who cared for sick animals, and was offered by the Most Reverend Michael Jackson, the Archbishop of Dublin.
There's not many pooches that would sit still for a blessing, but these therapy dogs certainly did.
