Survey reveals the 10 most desirable jobs in Ireland

The results were compiled following a survey of 1,100 workers.

The survey, by CV Library, compiled a list of some of the most popular jobs across the nation. Respondents were then asked to vote for which job they’d like to have if there were no restrictions to the job.

The results revealed that the most desirable jobs in Ireland right now are:

  1. Doctor – 25%
  2. Social Media Influencer – 24.6%
  3. Flight attendant – 20%
  4. Accountant – 16.4%
  5. Athlete – 16.1%
  6. Brand Manager – 16%
  7. Mechanical Engineer – 15.6%
  8. Sales Manager – 15.1%
  9. Teacher – 14.6%
  10. Business Analyst – 10%

Managing Director of CV-Library, Lee Biggins, commented on the results: "It’s interesting to see that being a doctor came top of the list given the ongoing staff shortages in the industry right now. It’s also great to see that some of the more traditional occupations such as an accountant, engineer and teacher made the list.

"With the introduction of new technologies and the ever-growing popularity of freelance work, it can often feel like some of the key professions such as healthcare are being disregarded. Instead, it’s clear that many workers are opting for online roles, such as brand manager, instead," he added.

The survey also revealed over a third (39%) of professionals in Ireland confessed that they’d be more likely to take a job that had the word ‘manager’ in the title.

Almost half of the professionals surveyed (45%) agreed that having fun at work and enjoying your job is more important than your salary.
