MET Éireann has issued a Status Yellow snow and ice warning across all Irish counties with conditions expected to deteriorate significantly this evening.
The warning will come into effect from 9pm tonight and will remain in place until 7pm tomorrow, January 22.
The national forecaster said: "Icy and slippery conditions expected due to accumulation of ice and snow on untreated surfaces.
"Scattered sleet and snow showers most frequent across Ulster and Connacht will occur but some showers penetrating into central and eastern areas at times with the odd flurry further south.
"Accumulations generally 1-2cm expected. Wintry showers becoming confined to northern areas by late evening."

Elsewhere, it will be cold through much of this week with frost, icy patches and some wintry precipitation at times.
Temperatures are expected to increase on Thursday before turning colder again ahead of the weekend.
Met Éireann added: "Current indications suggest it will becoming colder again this coming weekend, but still some uncertainty as to the exact detail as of yet."
