St Patrick’s Day celebrations around the world (and out of this world)

ST PATRICK'S DAY, the feast day of Ireland’s patron saint, is celebrated all around the world.

Outside of Ireland, much of the attention is focused on the major events in Britain and the US.

However the festivities extend much farther than that, reflecting the global impact the Irish have had.

Here, we round up the St Patrick’s festivities from all corners of the globe…

The TG4 All Stars played an exhibition game at the Chulalongkorn University Stadium in Bangkok.

Parkfield, California, USA

In the small cowboy town of Parkfield (population 18) Lauren Varian and 15 friends from Ireland have almost doubled the population for the Féile Parkfield.

California’s first ever Irish-American festival featured music from both Irish Traditional and American Old Time musicians.

Above and beyond

St Patrick’s Day is celebrated all around the globe, however even the crew on the International Space Station got in on the action.

Orbiting 400km above the earth, they captured these shots of a green aurora above earth.
