AN IRISH network supporting vulnerable members of the community in Leeds has been busy preparing Easter gifts for delivery this week.
The Leeds Irish Communities partnership will be delivering special Easter Craic Packs to their members this weekend, to help keep them connected and entertained while the Covid-19 pandemic continues in Britain.
The group was launched in March 2020 as the coronavirus outbreak first hit the country.
It consists of more than ten local Irish organisations, led by the Leeds Irish Health and Homes (LIHH) charity, who all remain determined to support their community during the pandemic.
Their Easter Craic Packs contain some of the best-loved food products from home – including Barry’s Tea, whiskey cake, Erin soup, jam or a marmalade and Boland jam mallow biscuits.
There will of course be an Easter egg in there too, along with some seeds for planting and other craft kits to keep them entertained over the holidays.
The organisation first launched their Craic Pack idea over Christmas, where their members were treated to a box of festive goodies.
With lockdown easing due to kick in later this month, and the vaccine rollout continuing at pace across Britain, the group is hopeful that their Easter gift boxes will be the last deliveries needed by community members before life returns to some form of normal.
The LIHH charity has recruited 27 volunteers to deliver the packs this weekend.
