Riverdance stars to dance for 12 hours in Dublin for charity

OVER 500 professional dancers from will take to the streets of Dublin today to raise money for the Alzheimer Society of Ireland.

The stars of Riverdance will dance for 12 hours straight to raise funds for the charity.

The event kicks off at 10am outside the Gaiety Theatre and ends at 10pm this evening.

Speaking about the event, Riverdance executive producer Julian Erskine told Newstalk that the charity is very close to their hearts.

“Our general manager for many years, a gentleman called Ronan Smith, has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s,” he said.

“So it’s a tribute to Ronan, who will be with us today, that we’re trying to heighten awareness of what it’s like living with Alzheimer's."
