TIMES may have been tougher in the past, but a short film has captured older Irish people reminiscing fondly about the Christmases of their youth.
Christmas In My Day has been produced by Dublin-based video production company Taller Stories, with help from the charity Friends of the Elderly Ireland.
Most of the participants bemoan the money spent on Christmas today and the obsession with technology.
However their eyes dance when recalling their own youth, a time when they didn’t have much but experienced moments of joy that stayed with them for a lifetime.
These include creating improvised slides, decorating trees in Dublin’s Phoenix Park with scraps of cotton and getting a Roy Rogers gun and holster… but not owning a belt!
However the moving video takes a poignant turn when the participants reveal what they’d like for Christmas this year…
