Mums have been sharing images of how they looked seven hours after child birth in comparison to Kate Middleton’s positively radiant appearance after giving birth to her third child.
The Duchess of Cambridge stunned the world with her appearance on the steps of the Lindo Wing maternity hospital in London at 6pm on Monday April 23, just seven hours after her son was born.
It prompted BBC Woman’s Hour presenter Jane Garvey to call on other women to share images of how they looked seven hours after childbirth on Twitter.
Though Garvey admitted Kate looked "amazing", she felt "most women post-birth look like a sack of spuds".
"I'd post an image of me but you'd need help afterwards. If you're willing to share your truth, tweet," she wrote.
The tweet sparked a variety of replies from fellow mums keen to highlight the contrast between their appearance and that of Middleton.
Fellow BBC correspondent Nina Warhurst was the first to respond with a side-by-side comparison.
Here you go @janegarvey1 - me and Kate 7 hours post-natal.... I'm the one on the right, in case you're wondering.... @BBCWomansHour pic.twitter.com/6yf3H5a2T1

Fellow Twitter user Sally was next to reply, with an image taken 18 hours after giving birth in difficult circumstances...
Kalpana Boodhoo then got in on the act with a lovely photo taken pretty recently...
Jane Whyley had a bit of fun with her comparison...

And the overall message was clear:childbirth is exhausting...
I love that me and my son have the same battered and confused look on our faces! pic.twitter.com/wW6ACcuIn4

For everyone involved...
This is me and my wife, about 2 hours after our son was born. Poor thing, she was exhausted. pic.twitter.com/Tp7PjNNmaR

But it was always worth it in the end...
About 4 hours after he was born, I had pre eclampsia and was still in hdu here. Happy but nowhere near as swish as wonderful Kate 💖 pic.twitter.com/8QTJFM2w3B

And any new mum - Kate included - is worthy of a long rest afterwards...
I didn’t get out of bed for 15 hours post birth, let alone put high heels on and went outside! pic.twitter.com/gmbOiEex1g

Childbirth is tough...
Took 3 weeks to have a cuddle with my critically ill 27 weeker in #NICU. Oversized shirt to accommodate the ventilator tubes and #kangaroocare. Not a shift dress in sight ;-) Best feeling ever! pic.twitter.com/AnPO5OG62V

A dream come true...
Excuse the blood but in this photo I had cuddled my son and was in the process of having the episiotomy stitched. I was on such a huge emotional high as years earlier I'd been told I couldn't have children 😁 My dream came true the day Luke was born 💖💖💖 xxx pic.twitter.com/oLQuo31h4V
