Mia Farrow reveals plans to move to the west of Ireland

MIA FARROW has taken to Twitter to announce that she will be retiring from the spotlight and moving to Ireland.

Farrow, who is best known for starring in Rosemary's Baby and Death on the Nile, revealed she would be moving to the west of Ireland.

The 73-year-old tweeted: "On a micro level, I have decided to retire and will be moving to the west of Ireland."

Farrow's announcement sparked plenty of interest among her followers, who were keen to find out where the actress was planning to move to.

"Maybe Donegal," she replied to one follower.

The star then muddied the waters somewhat when she added that she was planning to live somewhere "Not too far from Cork."

It was then that another fan with a better geographical grasp of Ireland pointed out "Cork is the furthest county from Donegal!!"

Farrow wasn't fazed though, replying simply "yes" before adding "between those two I'll find my house."

Another follower offered up an alternative solution.

"Have a look at Galway," they wrote.

"Connemara, beaches and easy to get to Dublin as well...#winneronalllevels"

According to Farrow's responses on Twitter, the decision to move to Ireland has been prompted, in part, by the star's Irish heritage.

"My family is in Ireland - my mum was born there. I have an Irish passport," she said.

It's been seven years since Farrow last appeared in a film, with the actress's most recent credit coming in Todd Solondz's Dark Horse.

More recently she appeared on stage at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre in a 2014 production of A.R. Gurney's play Love Letters.
