Mexican food a winner in Co. Donegal - Ireland’s favourite takeaways revealed

THE Irish are a passionate lot when it comes to their takeaway preferences.

And now Ireland’s best fast food restaurants and dishes have been revealed.

The Just Eat National Takeaway Awards 2017 have taken place in Dublin after 20,000 members of the public voted for their favourites.

From the best chipper to the perfect pizzeria, more than 20 awards were given out to the heroes of Ireland’s takeaway establishments.

Thai Green Curry has been crowned king of quick cuisine, clinching the top spot from 2016’s winner, Chicken Tikka Masala.

Burrito Loco in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal was voted the country’s best over all takeaway after it scooped gongs for Best Takeaway Lunchtime and Best Takeaway Ulster.

And Ireland’s cult classic the spicebag even got its own category – won by Lin Kee in Dublin.

The dish has become a favourite over the last decade.

Made up of crispy chicken of chicken balls, chips, spices and chillies, peppers and onions, its usually served in a bag, often with a side of curry sauce.
