Meet Dubliner Vinny Gough - the world's fittest man

A DUBLIN personal trainer is riding high after recently being crowned the world’s fittest man.

Vinny Gough scooped the top prize at the world’s biggest and most prestigious fitness and modelling competition, the World Beauty Fitness and Fashion (WBFF) championships in Las Vegas last week.

The owner and head trainer at Changing Rooms Personal Training took to the stage and impressed the judges with his ripped physique.

Here’s a few interesting facts that may surprise you about Ireland’s new fitness champion:

1. Vinny used to be a rugby player, until his dream was cut short by injury.

2. Despite being a personal trainer, owning a fitness studio and training to become a pro fitness model, we’re happy to hear that Vinny still eats the occasional pizza, burger and chips…

3. His success has been fast moving as he only began competing in April this year, when he won his first ever amateur show in Denmark.

4. Vinny managed to reduce his weight from 96kg-84.5kg in six weeks for a fitness competition, and he cites heavily dropping your calorie intake as a key factor.

5. With those big calf muscles – a plight shared by only the fittest of models – Vinny confesses that wearing jeans is a struggle!
