JOHNSTON, Mooney and O’Brien have recalled a number of its bread products over fears they may contain “small pieces of metal”.
The recall involves all of its bread packs with a best-before-date of February 11.
Customers who have purchased the items are entitled to a full refund, and have been urged not to worry about the “very small risk” involved.
In a statement today, JMOB said the recall was “a precautionary measure”.
“There is a very small risk that some may contain small pieces of metal,” they explained. “Only bread products with this exact best before date are impacted.
"No bun or roll products are affected.”
Thank God, we were worried about the buns and rolls there for a second.
The company added that potentially affected products have already been removed from its supermarket shelves.
They have also recalled any affected packs that were in the distribution system and apologised to customers.
“Anyone in possession of a Johnston Mooney & O’Brien bread product with the Best Before Date 11th February 2018 may return the product to where it was bought for a full refund,” they added.
“Alternatively, they can send the empty packaging with their name and address for a full refund to: Johnston Mooney & O’Brien 11 Jamestown Road, Finglas, Dublin 11.
“The company apologises for any inconvenience caused by this recall but believes that it is the most appropriate course of action, however slight the risk might be to the consumer.”
