Irish woman's search for 'twin stranger' results in uncanny match

A FEW weeks ago Niamh Geaney, an Irishwoman who lives in Dublin, posted a request to her Facebook page, looking for help in tracking down her 'twin stranger'.

Inspired by the idea that each of us all have lookalikes somewhere in the world, Geaney teamed up with two college friends - Harry English and Terence Manzanga - to see who could find their closest twin stranger within a month.

The challenge was picked up and shared on social media across the world with submissions coming in from the US, Australia, Israel and India.

Two weeks into the search, 26 year old Geaney managed to find an uncanny lookalike not so far away  in Drogheda.

After a call out on Nicky Byrne’s radio show in Ireland, TV presenter Geaney was put in contact with 29 year old barmaid Karen Branigan.

The two lookalikes met for the first time recently.

“It was so weird “ said Geaney. “I just couldn’t stop looking at her face. It was just eery."

“People can’t believe we’re not related in any way” said Branigan, “the reaction has been nuts”.

With time still left still on the challenge, Geaney's two friends are still hunting for their lookalikes.
