Irish people share their favourite songs from home but they’re not what you might expect

IRISH music-lovers have turned to Reddit to share their favourite songs from the Emerald Isle – and it’s definitely an eclectic mix.

The usual suspects certainly make an appearance, with the Fields of Athenry and the Wind that Shakes the Barley praised for their “hauntingly beautiful” melodies.

But if one thing is true about the Irish, it’s that our tastes are rarely restricted to the conventional.

“I unironically love Where’s Me Jumper,” said one user, referencing the hilarious hit released by Cork band The Sultans Of Ping FC in 1992.

“While it might not be the most serious of songs it’s legit great,” agreed another.

And would the list really be complete without My Lovely Horse making an appearance?

Also from the 90s, B*witched’s classic guilty pleasure C’est La Vie isn’t forgotten.

“Lyrical masters, ‘I fight like me Da’ can be interpreted in so many ways,” said one fan, tongue firmly in cheek.
