IRELAND'S west coast, with its sprawling vistas, Atlantic-battered coastline and traditional Irish sights, has become a popular destination for tourists around the world.
And for those in search of a secluded holiday haven, Rabbit Island offers this and more in the surrounds of Galway's Lough Corrib.
Set in the heart of mayfly country the 26-acre island is home to a charming fishing lodge available for short term holiday and angling lets.
Accessed from Kenny’s Bay, the five bedroom property is a 10-minute drive from Headford town.
Fro those flying in from afar, Galway is a half hour drive away, while access to Knock and Shannon Airports is about and hour and an hour-and-a-half away, respectively.
Owned by a British businessman the lodge, which sleeps five and dates back to 1904 when it was built by Lord Headley, has recently been renovated.
Access is by a stone harbour with a gated entrance to the lawns. Inside the living room has a feature fire place and French windows leading directly to the veranda overlooking the lake's shore.
A week's stay costs €1,500.
