A ‘GIGGLING’ Michael D Higgins teddy could be the unlikely must-have toy this Christmas.
In October, tea cosies bearing the president’s likeness sold out in a matter of minutes.
Now, following the president’s recent election victory, the stuffed toy looks like replicating that success, while raising money for two great causes.

Called Miggle D Giggles, the teddy is the first toy designed by fledgling Irish toy company Giggle Industries Ltd, which aims to create toys that appeal to young and old.
Founders Lee and Stevie Russell have set up an Indiegogo fundraising page for people who want to purchase one of the Miggle D teddies and hope to have the first batch ready for Christmas.
Ten per cent of funds raised will go to CMRF Crumlin, which provides funding for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin and Ireland’s National Children’s Research Centre.
Brothers Lee and Stevie say they wanted to create a toy to celebrate the unique humour and warmth of Irish people.
They hope Miggle D Giggles will be the first in a line of toys that appeal directly to the Irish market and reflect modern society.
The plush toys are available for €20 each or €50 for three.
