PHILIP TREACY is the Irishman famous for jaw-dropping creations that adorn some of the world's most famous heads.
With a flair for producing pieces that are both glamorous and outright eccentric, the Galway milliner is the go-to hat man for the stars.
The five-time winner British Accessory Designer of the Year award-winner has created bespoke designs for everyone from pop queen Lady Gaga to the Queen herself, Elizabeth II.
For over 20 years the Ahascragh artist's style-centric accessories have featured among the fashion world's most iconic images taken by photographers such as Steven Meisel, Mario Testino and Patrick Demarchelier.
“Every hat I have ever made has begun in my mind as a photograph," Treacy says of his creations, adorned with ordinary-turned-exquisite materials from farmyard feathers to silk and plexiglass.
"I can see it on the model, at the right angle, before I even begin.”
The designer's creative process has been revealed in the book Philip Treacy: Hat Designer.
It features 250 photographs that give a behind the scenes look at some of his fashion collaborations and friendships.
Philip Treacy: Hat Designer by Philip Treacy with Marion Hume is out now in hardcover by Rizzoli. Price: £75.
