STUNNING new footage has emerged of a group of basking sharks jumping clear of the water off the Donegal coast.
Basking sharks are the biggest fish in Ireland’s seas – only second globally to the whale shark.
They’re often seen swimming along Ireland’s Atlantic Coast between April and September but this breath-taking rare footage by Bren Whelan of Wild Atlantic Way Climbing has captured the sharks breaching.
Basking sharks grow up to 10 metres in length, but as plankton feeders, they are largely toothless and not a threat to humans.
