Designers go global in new fashion show

AN INTERNATIONAL fashion showcase bringing the best Irish designers to the global stage will kick off in London this month.

The glamorous event, which will debut at the city’s prestigious Gibson Hall before moving to Dublin and ending in a flamboyant finale in New York, is hosted by Irish legal firm Arthur Cox.

The three shows will be produced by top stylist and broadcaster Cathy O’Connor and feature the work of a range of leading Irish designers – among them Pauric Sweeney, Dubarry, Niamh O’Neill and Electronic Sheep.

For Dublin designer Niamh O’Neill, who launched her label last autumn, it’s a perfect opportunity to showcase her business attire.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for top Irish designers to showcase our designs to brand new audiences in Dublin and in key fashion hotspots in London and New York,” she said.

“The Arthur Cox Irish Fashion Showcase is of particular interest to me, as a number of my designs work well as business attire, and the audiences in attendance are amongst the sharpest dressers in the corporate world.”

Partner Kathleen Garrett, who heads up the Arthur Cox London Office, added: “Through our offices in Dublin, London and New York we are growing a platform for Ireland’s supremely talented designers to connect with potential new clientele and hopefully paving the way for business in these markets.”

The London event will take place at Gibson Hall, Bishopsgate, London on September 12 before moving to Dublin on September 18. The grand finale takes place in New York on October 30.
