FOR the first time ever, an Irish auction house will be bringing their lots to London for a public viewing prior to the in room auction in Dublin.
In response to a growing demand for Irish art in Britain, Dublin-based auction house Morgan O'Driscoll's has been hosting a London viewing this week ahead of their Irish and International Art sale.
The art is on view at La Galleria, in Pall Mall this week until April 15, with the auction taking place in Dublin on April 20 at the RDS.
Well-known Irish artists featured in the lots include Frank McKlelvey, Sean Scully, John Behan, George Campbell and Colin Middleton.
Also of note are two paintings by Riverdance legend Michael Flatley.
The auction will also showcase art from international artists including Andy Warhol and Pablo Picasso.
Works expected to attract the most attention include the oil on canvas Thisbe, by Belfast painter Middleton and Flatley's abstract Flight of the Quetzal, which has a guide price of €40,000-€50,000.
Fans of more traditional art might appreciate Still Life with many things by Co. Wicklows George Campbell, who is perhaps best known for his work on the stained glass windows at Galway Cathedral.
