BOO, a Pomeranian dog that became an internet sensation, has passed away at the age of 12, his owners have confirmed.
The pooch, dubbed the World’s Cutest Dog and known for his short haircut, had a staggering 16million followers on Facebook and even had two books and a comic series.
His owners said they believed the dog died of a broken heart after the death of his Pomeranian pal Buddy in 2017.
“Shortly after Buddy died, Boo showed signs of heart issues,” said his owners on Facebook.
“We think his heart literally broke when Buddy left us.
“He hung on and gave us over a year.
“But it looks like it was his time, and I’m sure it was a most joyous moment for them when they saw each other in heaven.”
Boo would often appear in cute poses on Facebook and Instagram, each gathering thousands of likes.
His owners said they had received many messages over the years from people saying Boo’s posts had brought happiness into their lives.
As well as books, Boo merchandise included a range of stuffed toys while he was the Official Pet Liaison for Virgin Airlines in America.
Fans have left thousands of tributes for Boo on his Facebook page, many saying they had been reduced to tears by the news.
