AN HISTORIC farm in Co. Kildare has gone on the market with a price tag of €2.1million.
The impressive Brookville House in Carbury is an imposing Georgian period farmhouse, dating back to 1732.
Located in the Highfield area, the estate was originally gifted to the Madder family by Oliver Cromwell and it remained in their name until its present owner purchased it in 2009.
The house is surrounded by mature trees in a peaceful setting on an elevated site, which is approached by a set of stone piers and antique gates via a long sweeping driveway lined with trees on each side.
The current owner has done extensive work on the property and all the land which surrounds the house are in pasture.
“The farmland has undergone extensive drainage and reseeding in the last seven years,” the owner explains.
“A network of farm roadways have also been installed throughout the farm,” they add.
The house was completely renovated in 2009 and sympathetically restored in order to preserve its heritage.
Period features include working window shutters, newly-installed sash windows and a deep tread staircase with a mahogany bannister.
The house boasts an entrance hall, five large en-suite bedrooms, a bathroom, drawing room, sitting room, TV room and a modern, open-plan kitchen which opens out via patio doors to a sun-drenched patio and garden area.
There is also a large utility room, office and plant/boot room.
Outside the house is an intact walled garden and to the rear of the house is a beautifully restored courtyard, with stone buildings/sheds and a working farmyard with machinery sheds.
The farm, which is described by its owners as “suitable for any farming enterprise”, can be purchased with 180 or 210 acres.
It is situated just one hour from Dublin City and Airport, while top Irish schools Clongowes Wood, Kings Hospital and Newbridge College are just a 30-minute drive, as is the Kildare Village shopping venue.
Enfield train station is 10 minutes drive from the property, which offers a regular service to Dublin and Galway cities.
The house comes with a dual central heating system, oil and timber burning, solar panels, two security camera systems - one for the house and the other for the farm - and a phone watch alarm system.
It is on the market for €2.1million.
