THE MAYO senior footballers have been in London this week at a training camp at the Hazelwood Centre in Sunbury, the home of London Irish rugby club.
Following on from their Connacht Senior Football Championship victory over London at Ruislip last Sunday, the Mayo team remained in London for a four day training camp as their focus moves to the Connacht SFC semi-final clash with Galway at McHale Park on June 18.
During the week, Cáirde Mhaigheo London, the Official Mayo GAA supporters club in London, joined up with the Mayo squad at Hazelwood for an enjoyable social evening and BBQ, where players, management and backroom staff mingled with supporters, posing for photographs and signing autographs.
Prior to the game against London on Sunday, the Mayo team held their warm up at Cardinal Wiseman school in Greenford. As a gesture of thanks, Mayo player Cillian O'Connor presented a signed and framed Mayo jersey to assistant head teacher Anne Marie McLoughlin at Hazelwood.
Cáirde Mhaigheo London was launched to spearhead the Mayo GAA fundraising activities in London. It gives the opportunity to the Mayo diaspora to play a significant role in the development of the county teams and in particular the Mayo senior football team.
